The CLOSUP team is a dynamic group of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to serving communities through applied academic research. The team leverages its expertise in areas including public finance and public policy analysis to inform decision-making in municipalities across Michigan. Through key initiatives like the Michigan Public Policy Survey (MPPS), the team gathers unique data directly from local government leaders to enhance the effectiveness of local governance. Beyond its core research, the CLOSUP team fosters the next generation of policy leaders by integrating Ford School students as policy analysts in research activities and facilitating communication among academics, policymakers, and the public. This collaborative effort ensures that crucial insights from the university are translated into real-world solutions for today's most pressing urban and rural policy challenges.
