Research and Data Specialist

Margaret joined CLOSUP as our research and data specialist in September 2023, after having worked at the Center as a student policy analyst during her master's program in the Ford School. During her studies, Margaret worked on CLOSUP's Fiscal Health Project to reform local government financial reporting. She worked directly with local government officials, technology companies and non-profit organizations, gave multiple presentations including to the Michigan Department of Treasury and the Michigan Townships Association annual conference, and more. During the MPP program she also served as a graduate student consultant to the U.S. Department of Justice, and has additional experience with the City of Detroit Health Department, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and a private foster care services organization.

As CLOSUP's research and data specialist, Margaret participates in research, analysis, and reporting on the Michigan Public Policy Survey and the Fiscal Health Project, help's with the Center's outreach, and more.  

She has an Ford School MPP along with a certificate from the School's Science and Technology in Public Policy (STPP) program, as well as a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University, and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Spring Arbor University.
