Renewable Energy Policy in Minnesota
Minnesota is forward-thinking when it comes to renewable energy policy. The state boasts a decently aggressive renewable portfolio standard (RPS) and has democratic leadership that is leading Minnesota to a clean energy future. Robust policies are allowing the state to utilize all of the renewable energy options at its disposal; however, wind generation remains to be the most economical and feasible path forward. Adequately addressing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and allowing siting to remain a fair and just process is crucial to advancing renewable energy within the state. Minnesota has an economic industry rooted in agriculture, business, and healthcare. These industries will be largely affected by climate change, and effective renewable energy policies will prove invaluable to the state.
