Maryland’s Renewable Energy Policy & Landscape: Overview & Analysis

Maryland’s renewable energy policies are underpinned by ambitious goals, including achieving 50% renewable energy by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2045. However, a deeper analysis reveals a complex policy landscape that both facilitates and hinders renewable energy deployment. In this paper, we examine how current policies align (or fail to align) to support utility-scale solar and wind development, and highlight potential opportunities for policy improvement.
