Apply now to inaugural Detroit Data Fellowship and use stats for social impact

March 30, 2016

Want to use your data skills to develop solutions to social challenges facing the city of Detroit? The Detroit Data Fellows Program is a two-year, full-time post-graduate fellowship during which participants work with city agencies to analyze administrative data and promote its use by city personnel and residents.

The first cohort will work with the Detroit Police Department to expand the use of data in the City’s policy-planning process, and will have the opportunity to present their analysis to senior DPD personnel.

Fellows will receive training through an intensive data “boot camp” at U-M during the summer, as well as an introduction to working in city government. In addition, fellows are matched with a U-M faculty mentor who will provide ongoing support and mentorship during the experience. This position provides an annual stipend of $50,000 and a benefits package.

Applications are now online and will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning April 15, 2016. Graduating students, alumni and others are encouraged to apply. To learn more, please click here.
