MPPS findings show desire for funding reform, Tom Ivacko tells Michigan Radio

February 8, 2013

The latest poll in the Michigan Public Policy Survey (MPPS), conducted by the Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy (CLOSUP), received coverage from Michigan Public Radio and other area media outlets for shedding light on issues of government funding in Michigan.

According to the survey, local government leaders in Michigan report that the way their jurisdictions are funded requires significant reform to maintain services in the wake of the Great Recession.

"58% of local leaders overall think that the system of funding is broken in the state," CLOSUP administrator Thomas Ivacko said in an interview with Michigan Radio. "Among these leaders, overwhelming percentages think that each of the major parts of the system is broken."
