Michigan Public Policy Survey

The Michigan Public Policy Survey (MPPS) is unique in the nation as the only ongoing survey of all general purpose local governments across an entire state. Its mission is to inform and improve policymaking with data not available from any other source, by surveying the state’s local leaders.

Fiscal Health

The Fiscal Health Project aims to develop a deeper understanding of the fiscal health and fiscal challenges of local governments in Michigan, and beyond. This will contribute toward a proactive approach to local fiscal health, and promote greater transparency and earlier detection of signs of fiscal stress.

Redistricting

This research & service project will inform the state’s new Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission regarding “Communities of Interest” and how they can best be handled in the redistricting process.

Energy and Environmental Policy Initiative

CLOSUP's Energy and Environmental Policy Initiative (EEPI) is a program of coordinated activities designed to bring the latest academic knowledge to bear on issues of energy, environment, and climate policy.

"The MPPS gathers data and opinions from community leaders that blanket the state of Michigan and we’re able to bring the information back to policymakers and related stakeholders around state government in Lansing. It’s designed as a public service to Michigan communities and the Michigan state government."
