Ahead of the midterm election, Tom Ivacko, executive director of the Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy, joined WXYZ Detroit to discuss what's on voters' minds.
"This is a very interesting election cycle. Typically, the economy is one of the key drivers of what voters decide to do at the ballot box. This time around, the economy is competing with some other pretty big issues. Abortion of course top of the list — may be first place, maybe second place, in terms of what's the most important issue on the minds of voters this year," Ivacko said. "And it's not just those two — there are other very important policy-related issues going on. Election denialism is a significant factor in this election both in Michigan and across the country. And the impacts of redistricting are also going to be an important factor."
