Abstract

This article, published in the May/June 2018 issue of Michigan Planner, the magazine of the Michigan Association of Planning, provides an introduction to how wind development has effected Michigan communities and what other communities should do to prepare for wind development.  It encourages communities to consider how wind energy as an economic development tool fits in with other community goals and encourages early community involvement in planning for wind energy—ideally before a project is proposed.
