« Return to policy survey listing

August 2010

Abstract

The fiscal health of Michigan's local governments has declined in the last year and has become a much more widespread problem, increasingly affecting communities of all sizes, in all regions of the state. This MPPS report examines how local governments are being affected by falling tax revenues and aid, at the same time that they face increasing service demands and rising costs to provide services.
